5 Gay Coming Of Age Novels

So Hard To Say by Alex Sanchez

Thirteen-year-old Xio, a Mexican American girl, and Frederick, who has just moved to California from Wisconsin, quickly become close friends, but when Xio starts thinking of Frederick as her boyfriend, he must confront his feelings of confusion and face the fear that he might be gay.

Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

The story recounts five years in the life of Augusten Burroughs. His mother, being crazy, gives up her son into the care of her psychiatrist, and life for 12 year old Augusten just gets even crazier. Augusten, coming to terms with his sexuality, begins a relationship with a much older man, which is encouraged by his adoptive family.

Beautiful People by Simon Doonan

In 'beautiful People', Doonan describes his early years in Reading, his move to London and eventually America. The joy of the book is that it is so camp and over the top that you can't help but smile. Early on, Doonan describes writing this autobiography as like having a 'psychological enema' and he lays even the most embarrassing details open for our enjoyment. This was recently turned into a successful BBC TV series.

Sucking Sherbet Lemons by Michael Carson

Following five troubled years of discovery in the life of Martin Benson. The story starts when Benson is thirteen years of age, in the early 1960s. Benson is overweight, very religiously inclined, not a popular boy and the constant target of bullies at the school which he attends.

He is constantly perturbed by the conflict of his religious beliefs and what he perceives as his unnatural liking for boys and enjoys fantasies involving other lads.

He is also a founder member of the Rude Club, where he enjoys some intimate explorations, and is fascinated by the more adventurous Bruno.

Mysterious Skin by Scott Heim

VERY controversial coming of age tale with a twist, Mysterious Skin tracks a decade in the life of two teenage boys in small town America, following them from their school yard days through early teens and adolescence until they eventually become the adults their childhood selves must concede to.

The innocence of Brian Lackey - one of the book's two main characters - is sharply contrasted by the knowing cynicism of his superficially unlikely ally, Neil McCormick. Neil is as sinister as Brian is guileless, but the shared childhood experience that links the two boys moves beyond the boundaries of a straightforward struggle between the "good" character and the one the reader initially assumes to be the "bad."

Phillip Ashton's Impression Of His Arch-Nemesis Derek Rivero

This is my friend, Phillip Ashton, who works for many of the biggest gay porn studios in the US, at his most funniest doing an impression of Zack Randall's ex-boyfriend Derek Rivero. Randall was mistreated by Rivero. Ashton, the greatest top in Twink porndom, decided to settle the score with style. I love you Phillip!

Scene From The Movie 'STONEWALL' Which Show How The GLBT Rights Movement Started

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City. They are frequently cited as the first instance in American history when people in the homosexual community fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted sexual minorities, and they have become the defining event that marked the start of the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.

This is the TRAILER for STONEWALL:

Is Salo: 120 Days Of Sodom Still The Most Controversial Film Ever Made?

Salò: 120 Days of Sodom is a controversial film from the 70's written and directed by Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini and based on the book by the Marquis de Sade.

Because of its intensely graphic scenes of sex and violence, the movie was extremely controversial upon its release, and is mostly only available in heavily edited versions, remaining banned in several countries to this day.

Many saw it as Pasolini's attempt to expose the Secret Societies he was a member of and warn the world what would happen if they accepted a New World Order. Like Kubrick after his own expose 'Eyes Wide Shut', Pasolini was murdered shortly before the film was released.

Pier Paolo Pasolini (March 5, 1922 – November 2, 1975) was an Italian poet, intellectual, film director, and writer.

Beautiful People

If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend Series 1 and 2 of 'Beautiful People', which is a ground-breaking series tackling the subject of gay youth. It is inspired by the autobiography of Simon Doonan, who is New York's premiere window dresser.

It is one of the funniest series to hit TV in a long time and is written by Jonathan Harvey who created the movie 'Beautiful Thing' and the TV Series 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.'

Series 1 is available for purchase now. Series 2 is released on DVD on January 4th 2010.

Beauty and the Beast...

...though, which was which? Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine were French poets and lovers. Though Verlaine was a gifted poet, Rimbaud was a genius who revolutionized poetry while still a boy. They shocked Parisian society. Rimbaud famously wiped his ass with another poet's work. Verlaine was imprisoned for shooting, but not killing, Rimbaud when he tried to end their relationship.

Whatever You're Into...

Take a look at the images. It's all innuendo! Golden showers, pitching and catching, furries, cleaning the carpet, grinding the meat, dirty sanchez, sheep-shagging, cocks, hairless pussy, genderplay, pearl-necklace, cockrings and teabagging!

Gay Commercial Challenging Gender Roles

I'm not sure what is more shocking about this commercial: the twist in the end of it or the fact that they are playing the same reversed Holy mass used in Heiros-Gamos rituals by the Secret Societies, as seen in Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut'.

Film Trailer: 'The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things'

Spit Highly Recommends this film. The dysfunctional twenty-three years old Sarah takes her six years old natural son Jeremiah from the home of his beloved foster parents with the support of the social service to live with her.

Along the years, the boy shares her insane and low lifestyle and is introduced to alcohol and drugs. He is also mentally, physically and sexually abused by Sarah, her lovers and her religiously fanatical family.

Originally thought to be the true story of the author, J. T. Leroy. It was later admitted to be a literary hoax. This should not stop you watching what is a powerful film. Starring Asia Argento, Marilyn Manson, Peter Fonda, Winona Ryder and the Sprouse Twins.

The Wiktor Grodecki Trilogy: Not Angels But Angels, Body Without Soul and Mandragora

These three films are considered to be the most controversial films to come out of Czech. They concern male prostitution and the porn film trade, particularly 'Man's Best'. The first two are documentaries. 'Mandragora' is a movie Grodecki made based on his documentaries. I, SpitWash, highly recommend them all.
